The TK101 at an angle: a black board with a wide gold border, a gold drawing of a microphone, the tiny rectangular microphone can below it, a jumper and an LED at the top right, two round LEGO holes, PDM MIC up the right edge, and four right-angle pins out of the front edge printed GND, 3V3, CLK and DATA.

PDM Microphone

A LinkMems LMD2718T261-OA1 MEMS microphone on a TinkerBlock board that sends sound as one bit per clock pulse. It needs a board with a PDM input, such as the ESP32-S3's I2S0, and 3.3 V. Two signal wires, CLK in and DATA out; ordinary speech reads a few tens out of 32767, so sketches subtract an offset and apply gain.

Supply
3.3V, never 5 V
Sensitivity
-26dBFS at 94 dB SPL
SNR
58dB(A), datasheet
Signal wires
2CLK and DATA

Every pin and part: CLK in and DATA out through 22 Ω, the L/R jumper held low by 10 kΩ, and the microphone's supply filter.

The rest of the kit

All three blocks come in the one I2S audio kit. The microphone records, the amplifier drives the speaker, the DAC feeds headphones or powered speakers; the harder builds join two of them.
