The TK16 at an angle: a black board with a gold border, a small clear infrared LED lying flat near the top with a lens in its upper face, a three-legged transistor and two resistors at the top right, an LED and a resistor in the middle, lonely binary and IR REMOTE SENDER along the left edge, two big mounting holes, and a right-angle four-pin header labelled GND, VCC, NC and SIGNAL.3D
You have thistk16

IR Sender

An Everlight IR908-7C 940 nm infrared LED, switched by a transistor, on a TinkerBlock board. SIGNAL HIGH lights it; your microcontroller makes the 38 kHz carrier, and one 150 Ω resistor decides how far it reaches.

LED current
24mA from 5 V
VCC
3.3 or 5V; 5 V reaches further
SIGNAL
HIGHlights the LED
Beam
±20degrees off axis

Turn it over and see the three holes to wire: GND, VCC and SIGNAL. SIGNAL HIGH lights the LED; VCC only feeds the LEDs, so 5V is safe beside any board.

Point a phone camera at the code and this page opens there. It is the same address as the one printed on your box, so it is also what to show someone you are passing the board to.
