The TK62 at an angle: a black board with a gold border, a brass cylinder lying across the top under the lonely binary logo with two short silver leads bent down into the board at its left end, three small parts in a row and an LED below it, two round LEGO holes, TILT SENSOR and ACTIVE HIGH up the two long edges, and a right-angle four-pin header.

Tilt Sensor

An SW-520D ball tilt switch on a TinkerBlock board: two steel balls in a brass can that close the switch when its lead end, the board's left edge, is the lower one. It sits between VCC and SIGNAL with a 10 kΩ pull-down and a 100 nF, so left edge down reads HIGH, and a red LED lights while it is closed. It draws nothing while open, reads nothing definite near level, and VCC must be your board's logic voltage.

Reads HIGH
Left edge downLOW with the right edge down
Switches about
10° past level, one maker's figure
Draws while open
0mA; about 1.6 mA closed
VCC
3V3 or 5Vyour board's logic voltage

Turn it over and see the three holes to wire: GND, VCC and SIGNAL. VCC reaches only the tilt switch, whose leads are at the left edge; with that edge down the balls join VCC to SIGNAL, and a 10 kΩ pull-down holds SIGNAL LOW otherwise.
