Ohm's law

Three of the four are a rearrangement anybody can do on paper. The fourth is the reason this exists: power is what decides whether the circuit survives the afternoon, and nobody goes looking for it.

Where it comes from: Ohm’s law on real problems.

That resistor has to get rid of 114 mW, so order a 1/4 W part — twice the dissipation, which is the derating everybody skips. A part run at exactly its rating runs hot enough to drift, and the drift is upward. 22.7 mA is also more than an ESP32 pin will give you: above about 20 mA the pin needs a transistor in front of it, because the pin is a switch and not a supply.
