Chapter · Zigbee
The network
What Zigbee is next to Wi-Fi, the shared radio, and the three roles.
- 01A low-power network, not Wi-Fi4 minZigbee is a network that runs on a low-power radio, and it is not Wi-Fi. This lesson sets one house on the bench, shows what is the radio and what is the network, and says which values are protocol, reported or only an example.
- 02The shared radio4 minZigbee's radio runs at 250 kbit/s on one of sixteen channels in a band that Wi-Fi shares. This lesson plots the channels against Wi-Fi's and a frame to scale, and shows why neither number is what your data gets.
- 03Three roles4 minA Zigbee network has a coordinator that forms it, routers that forward, and end devices that do neither. This lesson shows that a role is a configured setting, and that the coordinator is not in every path.
Start at 01 and read down — the order is the order things get easier in. Or take the one with your part in it; every article stands on its own, and links back to whatever it needs.
