The TK37 at an angle: a black board with a wide gold border, a square dark grey buzzer with cut corners near the top with a small round port and a plus sign on its lid, a black diode at the top right, a small LED and a resistor under the buzzer, a three-legged transistor and a resistor at the right, lonely binary and PASSIVE BUZZER up the left edge, a box printed PWM, and a right-angle four-pin header along the front edge.

Passive Buzzer

A magnetic buzzer with no oscillator of its own, switched by a transistor on a TinkerBlock board. It sounds only while SIGNAL is a square wave, at the wave's frequency, so tone() plays any note; it is loudest at its 2.7 kHz resonance. Held HIGH it is silent and the coil draws about 200 mA.

Loudest at
2700Hz, its resonance
Draws up to
95mA, not from your pin
Coil
16Ω, magnetic, not a piezo
VCC
3V3 or 5Von any board

Turn it over and see the three holes to wire: GND, VCC and SIGNAL. SIGNAL reaches only a 1 kΩ into a transistor's base; the buzzer, a 16 Ω magnetic one, runs from VCC.

Point a phone camera at the code and this page opens there. It is the same address as the one printed on your box, so it is also what to show someone you are passing the board to.
